Because just as Legos link together to make structures and letters link together to make words, atoms link together to form different substances called COMPOUNDS! Let&#8217;s learn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a COMPOUND?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 0, 0);color:#3d5aff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">COMPOUNDS are substances composed of the same molecules formed by combining elements<\/mark><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ex: If we take 20g of Hydrogen and 10g of Oxygens we get 30g of Water because the atoms in those substances bond at at 2:1 ratio to make Water (H<sub>2<\/sub>O) molecules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0a4fff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Compounds can be broken apart into the elemental class=\"has-inline-color\">MOLECULES are the particles created when atoms bond to each other.<\/mark><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ex: When two Hydrogens (H) and one Oxygen (O) bond we get an H<sub>2<\/sub>O molecule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each atom retains it atomic identity, they are just stuck together and move in a unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><mark class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1466fe\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Chemical formulas use Atomic Symbols and subscript numbers to describe how many of which atoms link together to form molecules and therefore create compounds<\/mark><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Water H<sub>2<\/sub>O = 2 Hydrogens + 1 Oxygen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Methane CH<sub>4<\/sub> = 1 Carbon + 4 Hydrogens<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 their beloved, atoms look and act differently when they bond to each other too!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When atoms bond, they create <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1638ff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">compounds that have completely different properties than the elements that compose them<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look how different the elements are from the
